‘There is always a reason not to do something’ – Kate Sands Professional Organizer
I’ve assisted Kate on projects and worked with her through NAPO-NE. Her ability to hone in and focus on what is truly important is something I have always appreciated and respected. Her statement really resonated with me. So I share with you as the beauty of spring (and all the ‘stuff’ that comes with spring) unfolds…
Life is about making choices. Whether re-organizing the garage, de-cluttering the closet, going for a swim, eating that 3rd piece of chocolate, making a phone call we don’t want to make, going shopping or not. It’s all about choices. Take a deep, deep, deep breathe and take the step forward. It’s a lot less painful than you think!

‘All great achievements require time’. – Maya Angelou
Create the goal-
Breakdown into manageable steps.
One task at a time, one box, one drawer, one shelf, one bookcase, one room.
One less piece of chocolate, one less cookie, 5 more minutes of swimming, walking or running.
Pat yourself on the back each time you follow through. Hug yourself when you don’t.
It’s just one small step, one small task at a time.

It pays to get your financial house in order. Lost bills and receipts, forgotten tax deductions, and clueless spending can cost you hundreds of dollars each year.
Set up automatic bill payment online for your monthly bills to eliminate late fees and postage costs. Get a handful of files to organize important receipts, insurance policies, tax documents and other statements.

I really like Erin’s article ’25 Ways to Waste Your Money’. Don’t be surprised to see more of her ideas and how they relate to organizing the next few weeks!

Determine the impact your current disorganization has on lost time and productivity. “If it takes you four hours to organize your closet, you lose four hours of work,” the organizing expert says. “If you outsource it, the professional can probably do it in less time. That’s four extra hours you can allocate to your work or leisure.” – Zele Avradopoulos, quoted in SheKnows.com
Lesson 4: Forgive yourself for a few bad, but well-intended, purchases. (That processor to make baby-food seemed like a great idea, but those little Gerber glass jars from the store were just so much easier).- Beth Hering.
